Florium app showing a Monstera deliciosa specimen waiting to be scanned

Plate I

Monstera deliciosa

Family Araceae · the swiss cheese plant

Folio I · The premise

A second opinion for every leaf you meet.

“The plant on your kitchen counter has a name, a temper, and a few specific opinions about water. Florium learns them all, then translates.”

Florium recognises species from a single photograph and writes back a full record: family and lineage, light and water, soil composition, fertiliser cadence, common ailments, and whether the plant is safe around the people and animals you live with.

Photographs stay between you and the species engine. Nothing leaves your phone unless you ask it to.

  • IdentificationFrom a single photograph, with confidence read out plainly.
  • Health diagnosisYellowing, spotting, infestations: the cause and what to do next.
  • Care guidesLight, water, humidity, soil, fertiliser. Specific to the species.
  • Toxicity flagPets and small humans accounted for, plant by plant.

Folio II · Identification

Three seconds from a photograph to a name.

  1. Act I

    Frame the leaf

Hold the camera steady, fill the frame, tap once. Florium can read a single leaf or the whole plant.

  2. Act II

    A closer look

The species engine reads the structure, the venation, the silhouette. It is artificial, but it has been taught on real botanical photographs.

  3. Act III

    The verdict

A match arrives in seconds, with the scientific name, family, and the full care guide written alongside.

Folio III · When something is wrong

Yellowing leaves.
Black streaks.
A bug that won’t go.

Florium reads the photograph, names the cause, and writes back what to do next. Before you Google “is my plant dying.”

Each diagnosis comes with a confidence score, a plain-words assessment, the suspected cause, and a numbered list of steps to take this week.

  • AssessmentPlain-language read-out of what the photograph shows.
  • Detected issuesEach one with a confidence figure, never a guess dressed up as a fact.
  • TreatmentPer issue, written for the species and the symptom.
  • What to do nextWhen the plant is unwell, a numbered list of steps for this week.

Florium showing a Plant Protector profile, with toxicity alerts for pets and children

Folio IV · Tailored

Built around the household,
not the algorithm.

A short opening conversation tunes Florium to who you live with and what you want to grow. Pets and small humans on the floor? Toxic species are flagged before you bring them home, in your garden and in the catalogue.

Most plants in your home were not chosen on a screen. They were gifts, hand-me-downs, leftovers from someone who could no longer keep them. Florium gets to know each of them with you.

Profiles are kept on the device. There is no advertising identifier in this app, and there never will be.

Four plants, four conversations

Folio V · The garden

A quiet ledger
of everything you grow.

When the collection grows past memory. Twenty plants is the threshold most caretakers describe; after that, names slip, watering days collide, and a healthy plant becomes a forgotten one.

Each plant you scan settles into a personal record. Florium remembers the dates, the diagnoses, and the photographs, so you do not have to.

  • JournalA timeline of every scan, every photograph, every note you write down. Nothing forgotten.
  • RemindersWatering, fertilising, misting, repotting, pruning. The notebook your grandparents kept, in your pocket.
  • TagsFree-form labels for grouping the plants the way you think of them. By room, by light, by mood.
  • SearchFind any plant in your garden by name or tag, in one tap.

Folio VI · Questions you might ask

Before you decide,
the most asked of them.

  1. Q.01

    What happens if I cancel?

You cancel from inside the App Store, in two taps. There is no hidden settings menu, no countdown timer to hurry the decision, no confirmation email that arrives a week later. If you stop, you stop. Florium keeps nothing and asks for nothing.

  2. Q.02

What if Florium gets the plant wrong?

It happens. You can submit a correction from the result screen, with a few words about what the plant really is, and the feedback goes back to the team improving the species engine.

  3. Q.03

Do I need to be a plant expert?

No. The care guides are written in plain words, with the scientific name in italics for the curious and the practical advice for everyone else. The opening conversation also notes whether pets or small children are around so toxicity warnings show up where they matter.

  4. Q.04

Will it remind me to water?

Yes. Set the cadence once per plant, or accept the default suggested for the species. Watering, fertilising, misting, repotting, and pruning live in the same place. You will not need a spreadsheet.

  5. Q.05

What about pets and small humans?

During onboarding you say who shares your home. Toxic species are flagged before you save them, both in your garden and in Discover. Most houseplants are far less dangerous than their reputation; Florium tells you which ones are the genuine problem.

  6. Q.06

Does it work for outdoor plants and walks?

Yes. Florium identifies plants in your home, in unfamiliar gardens, and in the wild. The Discover catalogue covers indoor and outdoor species and lets you filter by light, climate, and difficulty.

  7. Q.07

    What happens to my photographs?

Photographs are sent to the species engine to produce the identification and then kept for up to 90 days so that we can investigate failures and improve accuracy. They are not used to train third-party models, sold to anyone, or shown to anyone else. Your garden, journal, and notes stay on your device.

  8. Q.08

What if I have a plant Florium doesn’t know?

Florium always returns its best guess. When the photograph is hard, that guess can be off. Use the correction screen to send the right name back to the team; in the meantime, the plant is saved under the result Florium produced and you can keep adding notes, journal entries, and tags to it.
